MHCS Promotes 9 Associates

WEST DES MOINES, IOWA (JULY 14, 2021) – McGowen Hurst Clark Smith (MHCS), a certified public accounting and business advisory firm, announced the following 9 associates have received promotions and will assume their new role effective immediately.

Anna Yung, CPA was promoted from Staff Accountant to Senior Accountant and serves in the Client Accounting Services department. Anna joined the firm in August 2019. She is originally from Fort Dodge, Iowa and graduated from Iowa State University.

Ashley Sly, CPA was promoted from Manager to Senior Manager and serves in the Tax department and Manufacturing and Distribution market. Ashley joined the firm in September 2013. She is originally from Round Lake, Minnesota and graduated from Buena Vista University.

Brandon Elbert, CPA was promoted from Staff Accountant to Senior Accountant and serves in the Tax department. Brandon joined the firm in January 2018. He is originally from Emmetsburg, Iowa and graduated from Iowa State University.

Carson Messenger, CPA was promoted from Supervisor to Manager and serves in the Tax and Business Advisory department. Carson joined the firm in May 2015. He is originally from Fort Worth, Texas and graduated from Grandview University.

John Marshall, CPA was promoted from Manager to Senior Manager and serves in the Tax department and Manufacturing and Distribution market. John joined the firm in May 2013. He is originally from Pleasant Hill, Iowa and graduated from the Creighton University.

Jose Garcia, CPA was promoted from Manager to Senior Manager and serves in the Assurance department and Manufacturing and Distribution market. Jose joined the firm in June 2019. He is originally from Winona, Minnesota and graduated from Winona State University.

Katie Lohnes, CPA was promoted from Supervisor to Manager and serves in the Client Accounting Services department. Katie joined the firm in May 2015. She is originally from Humboldt, Iowa and graduated from Iowa State University.

Michelle Leonard, CPA was promoted from Manager to Senior Manager and serves in the Business Advisory department and Not-For-Profit market. Michelle joined the firm in October 2013. She is originally from Lamoni, Iowa and graduated from Northwest Missouri State University.

Mike Vankat, CPA was promoted from Senior Auditor to Supervisor and serves in the Assurance Department. Mike joined the firm in August 2018. He is originally from Omaha, Nebraska and graduated from the Drake University.
