MHCS Promotes 10 Associates

WEST DES MOINES, IOWA (JANUARY 6, 2021) – McGowen Hurst Clark Smith (MHCS), a certified public accounting and business advisory firm, announced the following 10 associates have received promotions and will assume their new role effective immediately.

Allie Kafer, CPA was promoted from Senior Accountant to Supervisor and serves in the Tax department and Not-For-Profit market. Allie joined the firm in May 2015. She is originally from Humboldt, Iowa and graduated from Iowa State University.

Austin Steinkamp was promoted from Accounting Specialist to Senior Accounting Specialist and serves in the Client Accounting Services department. Austin joined the firm in October 2015. He is originally from Woodward, Iowa and graduated from AIB College of Business.

Deb Perkins was promoted from Accounting Specialist to Senior Accounting Specialist and serves in the Client Accounting Services department. Deb joined the firm in December 1995. She is originally from Winterset, Iowa and graduated from the American Institute of Business.

Jose Garcia, CPA was promoted from Supervisor to Manager and serves in the Assurance department and Manufacturing/Distribution market. Jose joined the firm in June 2019. He is originally from Winona, Minnesota and graduated from Winona State University.

Kendra O’Neill was promoted from Accounting Specialist to Senior Accounting Specialist and serves in the Client Accounting Services department. Kendra joined the firm in January 2014. She is originally from Council Bluffs, Iowa and graduated from Iowa State University.

Kristina Spieker, CPA was promoted from Manager to Senior Manager and serves in the Tax department and Healthcare market. Kristina joined the firm in August 2018. She is originally from Denison, Iowa and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa.

Liz Krause, CPA was promoted from Supervisor to Manager and serves in the Tax department, Real Estate/Construction market, and Transportation market. Liz joined the firm in June 2016. She is originally from Carroll, Iowa and graduated from Creighton University.

Makayla Fagen, CPA was promoted from Supervisor to Manager and serves in the Client Accounting Services department. Makayla joined the firm in June 2017. She is originally from Johnston, Iowa and graduated from Iowa State University.

Marissa Hunter, CPA was promoted from Staff Auditor to Senior Auditor and serves in the Assurance Department. Marissa joined the firm in January 2018. She is originally from Ankeny, Iowa and graduated from the Iowa State University.

Molly Knobbe was promoted from Staff Auditor to Senior Auditor and serves in the Assurance Department. Molly joined the firm in July 2017. She is originally from Carroll, Iowa and graduated from Buena Vista University.
